Well, folks, have you heard about the new animated original series, Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai? It just premiered on Max, which used to be known as HBO Max. “Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai takes you back to 1920s Shanghai where the Wing family first meets the young Mogwai called Gizmo (AJ LoCascio),” Max describes the series. Izaac Wang voices Sam Wing, who accepts the dangerous mission of taking Gizmo home and sets out on a voyage across the Chinese countryside.
Sam and Gizmo team up with a teenage street thief named Elle (Gabrielle Nevaeh). They come across various colorful monsters and spirits from Chinese folklore and sometimes engage in battles with them. As you follow their journey, you’ll see that they’re being chased by a ruthless industrialist named Riley Greene (played by Matthew Rhys) and his ever-expanding army of malevolent Gremlins.
