I'm Natasha Jones, an avid collector of coins, stamps, and paper money. My passion drives me to seek unique finds, from antique shops to international exchanges.I enjoy connecting with fellow collectors through forums and meet-ups, sharing discoveries and insights.Collecting, for me, is about preserving history and building a community around this shared interest.

In this review, we are going to take a look at the Dansco Penny Album.

Let me save you the trouble, and allow me to show you how great this album is for your penny collection and if it’s worth buying!

What’s a Dansco Penny Album?

Dansco coin albums are among the most prevalent ones to sell and are available for virtually any collection, including foreign coins.

One of the unique advantages is the consistent quality which implies that it rarely has any quality issues.

In addition, Dansco coin albums are crafted with interchangeable parts, allowing your collection to grow and making it simple to replace or add pages as needed.

An Overview of the Dansco Penny Album.

When I bought mine a few years back, I was amazed at how beautifully the foil-stamped and embossed simulated leather is.

The inside sleeves of most albums contain a historical review of the catalog and mintage numbers for each production year which I love because it helps me organize my collection!

The center column is securely riveted to the outer binder and maintains the pages in place by using two metal post screws/nuts, which make page replacement convenient for anyone. Blank binders are also offered for additional purchases to build your collection.

Pages with loose-leaf hinges that are plastic covered and washable. Each page features coin ports that maintain coins between acetate slides, protecting and displaying both sides of your collection.

Most pages are marked with relevant details, including mint marks (where applicable) and mint dates.

It’s as simple as sliding the top part to the right edge of the page, putting the coin, and sliding the acetate sheet back to add coins to your Dansco coin album.

Dansco coin album pages can be purchased separately to maintain your album updated as new coins are minted.

What’s great about this album for me is that Dansco manufactures matched Dansco covers with Silver-Guard Corrosion-Inhibiting coating in six sizes to match all of its albums.

Silver-Guard is a military spec material that securely neutralizes corrosive gases in the air that can cause toning and discoloration in silver, gold, copper, nickel coins and medals, medallions, bars, and ferrous metals.

So it’s safe to say that your collection is protected by this album, unlike other coin albums!

The Dansco penny albums are made of plastic, so they are durable and will not easily rip or tear as paper albums do over time. It also allows you to easily insert coins into their respective spots without damaging them more than necessary.

“These are great holders for uncirculated and even proof coins for up to 10 or 15 years. I would remove any proof coins worth over $200, any uncirculated coins worth over $300 and have them graded and slabed by PCGS. I’d cut that value in half for copper coins.”
