Notaphily
The study of paper money and other forms of currency made from paper.
Scripophily
The study of stocks and bonds. Scripophilists collect old stock certificates with no investment value. Still, they can be viewed as historical documents or works of art because they are typically engraved or artistically designed with beautiful vignettes.
Who is a Numismatist?
Not all coin collector is called Numismatist. There is a slight difference between coin collectors and numismatists, although they are generally similar.
Numismatist
Numismatists’ coin collection is more of a study than just collecting coins. They go into the depth of anything to do with coins—things like history, rarity, coin mints, coin designs, and so much more.
Coin Collector
This is not the case for coin collectors who collect coins without knowing how they were made or their history. A coin collector usually collects coins for fun and may not be interested in the history behind coin making or the value attached to old rare coin collections.
A coin collector can be someone who collects coins from around the world or just one particular country, or even thematic coin collecting (i.e., only collecting silver dollar-sized coins). There are many different kinds of coin collectors and many reasons people collect coins.
A coin collector can also be an individual who only collects rare coins for investment purposes. They are not interested in coin collecting as a hobby but instead want to make money off their coin collection.
